Abstract

The promotion of dialogue, peace and tolerance among the Mediterranean people and cultures is the main guiding principle of the activities carried out at the Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo (Foundation of Three Cultures of the Mediterranean, hereafter referred to as Foundation or Three Cultures). Thus, our special library has been created with the purpose of being the supporting instrument of the goals of the Foundation,   guaranteeing the access to information related to the work themes. It also wishes to offer, through its bibliographic catalogue, a public space and meeting point. We, at the Three Cultures, believe that culture is the best medium to promote dialogue in the highly complex Euro-Mediterranean social and political context. Through our services we will facilitate the necessary sources for institutions and public administration daily work and also for academies and non-governmental organizations dedicated to social affairs and the promotion of international cooperation and development. The special library of the Foundation wants to reinvent the concept of special library and be an active agent in promoting the meeting, understanding and dialogue between people and cultures in the Mediterranean.
